New California Law on LA28 "Games Route Network" Dedicated Lanes

Image
by Jason Sisney* As discussed in my October 2025 post on California state government actions concerning the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Senate Bill (SB) 128 of 2025 authorized the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and local authorities to designate road and freeway lanes in the Los Angeles region as a  Games Route Network (GRN) in 2028. This post discusses new state legislation allowing automated enforcement of GRN use, provides background on GRN and Games-related traffic, and notes the Newsom administration's discussion of unmet resource needs for the 2028 GRN. Assemblymembers' statements on Governor Newsom's Jan. 2023 budget proposal

Here are statements by Assemblymembers that I saw related to Governor Newsom's January 2023 budget proposal. (Apologies in advance if I missed any.)   Speaker Rendon’s statement on Governor Newsom’s budget proposal : “Stock market and tech sector business trends are driving state revenues even lower. This June, the large reserves built over the last decade may be important for protecting California’s progressive investments. I look forward to working with my Assembly colleagues, the Senate, and the Governor on a 2023 budget that protects classroom, child care, and university funding while safeguarding core programs that protect our environment and our most vulnerable residents.” https://twitter.com/RendonAD62/status/1612876617520656390?cxt=HHwWjMDR3Z-vi-IsAAAA   Other Assembly Democrats’ statements on Governor Newsom’s budget proposal Ting: https://a19.asmdc.org/press-releases/20230110-ting-statement-governors-january-budget Arambula: https://a31.asmdc.org/p...
