New California Law on LA28 "Games Route Network" Dedicated Lanes

by Jason Sisney* As discussed in my October 2025 post on California state government actions concerning the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Senate Bill (SB) 128 of 2025 authorized the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and local authorities to designate road and freeway lanes in the Los Angeles region as a  Games Route Network (GRN) in 2028. This post discusses new state legislation allowing automated enforcement of GRN use, provides background on GRN and Games-related traffic, and notes the Newsom administration's discussion of unmet resource needs for the 2028 GRN.
